The Business Community
The Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Council work hand in hand, with several other organizations, to provide businesses with the tools to make them succeed. Small businesses form the backbone of the local economy with the support of major corporations such as Progress Energy, two hospitals, and several light manufacturing firms.
Informally known as the Citrus County Business Resource Alliance, is a proactive group of business organizations that work together to give small businesses the tools to succeed. This group is comprised of the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Council, the Small Business Development Center, the College of Central Florida, Workforce Connection, and SCORE. Together this group launched the Citrus County Enterprise Center, Homosassa branch with plans for additional locations in the future.
